Picross 3D

  • Players start with a solid block of cubes marked with numbers on the end of each row. If the number five is marked on the end of a row of six blocks, for example, one of those blocks must be eliminated. But which one? Players must deduce the answer based on the numbers marked on other rows
  • Players tap a chisel to eliminate blocks they think don’t belong or use a paintbrush to mark ones they think should stay
  • Once all the appropriate blocks have been chipped away, a fun object will be revealed. There are more than 350 objects to discover in the game
  • Picross 3D lets players create their own customized puzzles. Players can either share their creations with other Picross 3D players via a local wireless connection or use their broadband Internet connection and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to submit their puzzles into a weekly contest. Winners will have their puzzles featured in free weekly downloads available to all Picross 3D players
  • If multiple people want to play Picross 3D, game owners can also send a few sample puzzles to others via DS Download Play without the need of a second game card

This is a diffucult game for me. My brain will not allow me to think that quick that I will never get to the next level. This game has too many rules to remember and I can’t tell what the picture is….even when I complete it. If the identity wasn’t typed beside it, I would not know what it is. I’ve given up on this game. I did pre-order this and wish that I didn’t. From now on I will read opinions from gamers before I buy.

I’ve played the demo leading up to the game, which I will definitely be purchasing. I love the idea of it and can’t wait to play it. Unfortunately, Nintendo did a dumb thing to us in designing this one. The buttons are different. I found myself constantly making mistakes because of this. In original Picross, you push upward on the “joystick” to mark a block as good (which does break the block) and downward to mark it as bad. In this version, you press upward to break the blocks and rightward to mark them good. The blocks that you break in the original game form the picture. In the newer version, you break blocks to get rid of them. I kept breaking blocks that I was meaning to keep because it is backward, now. You certainly can’t go back and forth between these two games and keep that concept straight. I hope that that made sense. And I hope that there is a way to change the controls in the game.

One of the best purchases I’ve made for my DS, along with it’s predecessor Picross DS. You absolutely cannot go wrong with either game, and I challenge you to find a better value for your $20 on this console. No other game offers as much content as either Picross game on the DS.

  4. As a “non-casual” gamer I play alot of the top titles, but this little cart has occupied more than a fair share of my time since I picked it up last night. It’s a new take on the old Picross formula (if you played the original on Game Boy or DS) that uses the 3rd dimension to great effect. It’s incredibly easy to learn and you may feel like you picked up a kid’s toy during the tutorial levels, but fear not! Unless you’re one of those “smaht kids” you will be challenged soon enough by the time limits you need to beat to get all the stars.

It’s an excellent game to pass time…maybe too much time. I started playing around 8:00pm last night and didn’t stop until almost midnight! So grab your stylus and your No-doze and get to pic’n!

If you enjoyed 2D Picross, you’ll enjoy Picross3D. The 3D camera is pretty good overall but has a few nagging things when you are trying to destroy blocks. You can usually avoid problems by rotating the camera. It would have been nice to have a zoom option too, but there is not.

Overall I have enjoyed playing this game, I can pick it up and play for 5 minutes and be done with a puzzle. There are 4 difficulty levels, and a random function. I have not played in the hardest difficulty level (Hard). Which could possibly unlock another like the first Picross.
